A Group Exhibit “Mother Made”
A choice, a transformation, a practice.
Mother Made showcases a collection of works by artist-mothers, all in different stages of their careers and motherhood. These works illuminate the changes we experience and how we continue to create art through it all.
Mother Made features works by Bonnie Providence, Juliana Laury, Emily Mullet, Kayla Ackelson, Margaux McAllister, Lee Pohlsander, and Maryann Buschini.
This collective of otherwise radically different Phoenixville artists is unified by one thing: our artistic practices have been indelibly altered by becoming mothers. The archetypal transformation from maiden to mother is celebrated across cultures, and rightfully so; we adapt our bodies, our time, our spaces to shepherd new lives into the world. The choices we continually face challenge us to balance between caregiver and creator.
